SpacePlace is a learning environment designed to meet the need of students and teachers by providing a safe and supportive place to work together. While several education-focused social networking platforms focus on communication in a virtual classroom environment, SpacePlace focuses on collaboration.
This virtual classroom environment will make it easier for each student to be accountable for his/her own progress. The teacher will have access to each student's contributions, enabling accurate assessments. SpacePlace encourages students to
Target Audience
Within the SpacePlace platform, elementary and middle school students will be able to collaborate in a safe, COPPA-compliant, social environment that mirrors the structure of their classroom where character counts. Most current technology platforms require the use of an email address to allow access to online tools, but SpacePlace gives younger students the ability to join a group simply with a passcode provided by their teacher.
